Adobe Reader tries to download the updates automatically on the client device, even if you clear the Enable User Updates setting while profiling the application.


Solution:

Caution! This procedure requires you to edit the registry. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Extracomm cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Back up the registry before you edit it.

Add the following DWORD registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\<version_number>\FeatureLockdown\bUpdater
Set the value to 0
